What our clients say:
“Randa worked magic and rearranged the downstairs layout to get exactly what we needed without the massive cost of an extension. She literally saved us 30/40k by coming up with great ideas for awkward spaces”
Client Review – 2021
What is space planning?
Our space planning service is an in depth analysis of exactly how the physical interior space is used within your home. We consider the purpose of spaces and those who use them from day to day. The process takes several steps, and is an important part of any interior design and refurbishment service.
Proper space planning for your renovation takes into account traffic flow and circulation patterns around a space. It accounts for access and safety considerations, furniture layout and storage needs. It can also be useful to define large spaces or learn how to make the most of a small room in the house.
When it is done effectively, space planning ensures efficient use of all areas and accounts for all possible uses of a given space. It can be particularly useful when working on conversions and extensions where the use of the space will be completely different from the existing plan.
Example: when you convert a garage into a living space, space planning allows you to see the physical space as it will exist after conversion and assess how elements such as furniture and access will affect the layout in the floor plan.
As you’ll see in our process, we explore several options to find the right answers for you. When the process is completed, it results in a comprehensive space plan identifying the needs and required elements of your own particular space, including windows, doors, and even furniture within them.
Understanding your needs in interior design.
We are committed to understanding your design requirements and preferences in full. Through our confidential conversations, observations and survey, our interior designers analyse your needs and articulate them in a design brief document that we share with you.
We conduct a detailed on-site survey and prepare architectural drawings of the existing space.
The space planning process.
Effective space planning considers all the elements and opportunities for the intended use of each room. In delivering the space plan we offer three design concepts for you to choose from that test “high impact” options at one end of the spectrum along with more subtle changes at the opposite end. We then fully develop your option of choice, detailing partitions, cabinetry layout, and a diagrammatic furniture arrangement.
Space planning with our interior designers.
Space planning is an essential ingredient for any good interior design scheme. Combining beautiful fixtures, features and finishes with a practical and effective layout of your physical space creates homes owners love to live in. Once your own space plan is in place for your property it becomes the basis for an interior designer to build a cohesive home style by planning the interior design of your home
Our interior design service starts with presenting mood boards to capture your home style and create the concept of your living space. After this we’ll translate the elements into more practical schematic design, demonstrating how the finishes, fixtures and furniture will look in your home. Finally our drawings, specifications and schedules are produced so your builder can use them in your project
